Pakol Tribal Men's Hat Afghan Pakol With Feather Chitrali Hat Traditional Afghani Pakol Handmade Pakol Hat Banjara Dress

The Nuristan region of Afghanistan is where the Pakol first appeared. The Afghan Mujahideen who fought against the Soviet invasion wore the Pakol, and the United Front soldiers still do today (Alliance). The Pakul, also written Pakol or Khapol, is a soft, round-topped men's hat that is normally made of wool and is available in a range of earthy colors, including brown, black, gray, and white. It originates from the Khowar language of Chitral. It resembles a bag with a flat, spherical bottom before it is fitted. The wearer forms a thick band by rolling up the sides almost all the way to the top, which is then placed on the head to resemble a beret or hat.

The Chitral and Gilgit regions of what is now northern Pakistan are where the hat first appeared. Early in the 20th century, it became popular among the Northeastern Pashtun tribes, mostly as an alternative to their big and heavy turbans. Additionally, it became well-liked among the Tajiks and Nuristanis of Panjsher and Badakhshan. Some Pashtun tribes that reside in Kunar and Laghman also wear it. Size-free and universally fitting, these are made of a wool blend.
